Cuba Ruba has a fine chance of opening account

Cuba Ruba has shown enough to suggest he is the one to be on at 9/2 in the 5.10 at Musselburgh today.

This Tim Easterby trained three-year-old has only had six starts and shaped nicely in the second of those over 7f at Catterick when slowly away before staying on well to finish a never nearer 4 3/4 length fourth of 10 to Bumbledom.

THe also run well on handicap debut off 60 over 1m 2f at Beverley when fifth of 10 to Langholm, travelling well until weakening two from home and not knocked about.

Cuba Ruba backed that up with a decent fourth pver the 1m 4f trip of this at Thirsk and again shaped well when beaten only 2 1/3 lengths into fourth behind Euro Implosion Ripon earlier in the month off 58.

The winner is a progressive sort and the third home Funny Man was beaten just a nose next time up.

Five Helmets, who came fifth, went into the race on the back of a brace of successes and has also won since.

That gives the form a solid look in relation to this weak class 5 affair and Cuba Ruba is able to race in it off 1lb lower (57).

So of building on that effort, I think he is weighted to take all the beating and this looks a nice opportunity for him to open his account.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Cuba Ruba (9/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
