Dark Crystal a 20/1 Musselburgh gem

Dark Crystal is back down below her last winning mark and looks worth another chance at 20/1 in the 6.45 at Musselburgh this evening.

Linda Perratt’s filly was last successful in a 1m  contest at Ayr 12 months ago when only having to be ridden out by Fanning to beat Dhaular Dhar by a neck off a mark of 59.

The four-year-old went on to be placed twice off 63, but is now back down to 56 having failed to trouble the judge in six starts this season.

That gives her every chance from a handicapping perspective, and she had shaped as if returning to form when fourth at Ayr three starts back  orior to disappointing in her last two starts.

However, she was well supported on the last of those but lost all chance at the start when half-rearing as the stall opened and being slowy away.

I am inclined to put a line through that effort and give her another chance, especially as she she struck form at this time of the year 12 months ago when winning twice in a month.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dark Crystal (20/1 BetVictor, William Hill – BOG)
