Dark Crystal an 18/1 Ayr gem

Dark Crystal is back down below her last winning mark and looks worth siding with at 18/1 in the 4.00 at Ayr today.

Linda Perratt’s mare is a dual course and distance winner on good-to-soft ground and came good at this time last year when bagging a brace of handicap at Musselbrugh and this venue.

In the last of those successes she held on gamely to beat Normandy Knight by 1 1/4 lengths off a mark of 61, and went on to twice make the frame off 65.

The five-year-old is now abel to race off 60, and although yet to trouble the judge on four starts this season hasn’t shaped too badly in the last couple of those.

It’s interesting that she scored twice in July back in 2014, and her first victory last season also came in that month and Dark Crystal is certainly now weighted to go in again.

She is also effective on the ground and at the odds on offer looks worth an each-way wager.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dark Crystal (18/1 bet365 – BOG)
