Having shaped with stacks of promise on chasing debut, De Name Evades Me is a strong fancy to cash-in on what looks a lenient handicap mark and land the the spoils in the 2.35 at Eexter today.

The six-year-old is an Irish point winner who improved with every outing in six starts over hurdels last season when joining trainer Fergal O’Brien.

Although no match of easy 14 length winner Dinons in a six-runner affair at Cheltenham on seasonal reappearance, he stuck to the task well against a progressive rival now rated 145 over both hurdles and fences.
It was an effort full of promise and De Name Evades Me then a good attitude to open his account under rules at Warwick when responding well for pressure when pressed after the last to beat Captain Cargo by 1 1/2 lengths off an official rating of 125.

De Name Evades Me was well on top at the finish and then ran well on handicap debut at Newbury when a staying on 10 1/2 length third to Vive Le Roi off an opening mark of 125.

he went on to round off the canmpaign with an excellent second of 14 to Aux Ptits Soins in a competituev class 2 affair at Cheltenham off 125, giving the impression that there was still better to come.

That view was confirmed when he stayed on to finish a 7 1/4 lenbgths third to Ardlethen in a dcenet novice chase at Chepstow last month.

The runner-up Lisnagar Oscar was rated 141 going into the race and has since finsihed a fair third to Black Op at Uttoxeter, whilst the fourth home Truckers Lodge – who finsihed 23 lenths behind the selection – has won since at the same venue off an offcial rating of 140.

That gives the form a strong look and suggest an opening chase mark of 127 for De Name Evades Me could well underestimate his ability.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win De Name Evades Me (9/4 bet365, BetVictor, Betfair, Paddy Power – BOG)
