Olympic Gold Medallist James DeGale will be looking to bounce back from his very disappointing performance (and defeat) to George Groves when he faces current EBU super middleweight champion Piotr Wilczemsk (29-1, 10kos) on the udercard of Cleverly v Bellew live on BoxNation Sky ch 456 at 9.00 pm on Saturday .
DeGale (10-1, 8 kos) disappointed fans last time out when being closely outpointed by bitter amateur rival Groves and really not leaving it all in the ring last time out(a term used when a fighter perhaps refuses to give 100% effort inside the ring and happy to coast home just doing the minimum).
He spen tlong spells in the ring just thinking and gliding through it, before putting his foot to the floor a little from about 10 rounds onwards despite showing considerable promise so far in his career. He is a fighter who likes to think before he throws he likes to break down and fight with hard accurate shots and only when he is confident that his opponent is ready to go he will step it up and finish the fight.
Wilczewski is an interesting opponent ash he is all about all out aggression. He just wants to hurt his opponent with hard shots and doesn’t really care how he does it as he just wants to see a stoppage. However this means he is open to be countered and can be hurt, as has been proved in previous fights. He is the type of opponent that is made to measure for DeGale, as he can bide his time tuck up and counter away when he sees fit.
I Would love to say DeGale will go in and blow his opponent away in a massive statement to the rest of the world. But that quite frankly isn’t DeGale and he will be patiently stalk his opponent and break him down in about 9 careful rounds.
