Doctor Parkes handicapped to deliver now dropped in class

Doctor Parkes runs off his lowest rating in five years in the 3.30 at Goodwood today and is strongly fancied at 7/1 to take advantage and land the spoils.

Stuart Williams’ gelding was last successful in a class 3 handicap at Doncaster last August where he kept on well to beat Burning Thread by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 92.

He was the far from disgraced when finishing a 3 length seventh of 17 to Bogart in a similar grade affair at York off 98, and although he has failed to trouble the judge since his mark has plumetted as a result.

The eight-year-old now runs off just 81 and drops down to class 4 company for the first time since April 2011.

That gives him outstanding claims at the weights, and with the trip and conditions fine and Harry Bentley in the saddle, it looks a golden opportunity for him to get back to winning ways.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Doctor Parkes (7/1 bet365, Betfred, BetVictor – BOG)
