Doesyourdogbite looks worth an each-way wager at 40/1 in the Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow on Saturday (16.10).
Jonjo O’Neill’s gelding was in terrfic form at the start of last seaso when winning three on the bounce.
In the last of those at Kempton he got outpaced three from home before rallying strongly to win going away by two lengths in a competitive 15-runner affair off an opening handicap mark of 132.
The five-year-old got put iup 6lb for that success and was far from disgarced off his revised rating of 138 when a 11 1/2 length sixth of 13 to Modus in the valuable Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton when sent off a well-baccked 11/2 favourite
Doesyourdogbite failed ot trouble the judge in three subsequent outings, including at the Cheltenham festival and Grand National meeting at Aintree.
However, that has resulted in the assessor cutting him some slack and he noe returns to action off a reduced rating of 133.
That is just 1lb higher than when last successful and gives him every chance from a handicapping perspective.
Doesyourdogbite also has underfoot conditions to suit and is 2-4 under jockey Aidan Coleman.
