14/1 Sea Of Galilee the one to beat

Sea of Galilee shaped well last time out and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 14/1 in the 1.30 at Doncaster now stepped up in trip.

Henry Candy’s filly has always been well regarded and great things were expected of her when she spread eagled the field to win a Nottingham maiden on her second start last season.

She powered clear that day to win easing down by 3 lengths from Chelsea Morning and they finished miles clear of the third.

Things didn’t go according to plan for the daughter of Galileo after that win, and it’s clear that she has had niggling problems which have held her back and stopped her fulfilling he potential.

However she looked to be on the way back last time out when staying on really well to finish a never nearer 3 length third to Area Fifty One at Nottingham in a handicap over 10f and if building on that effort there is every chance of her getting back in the winners’ enclosure.

To my eyes she has been crying out for a step up in trip to 12f, and over that journey I can see her proving much better than her current rating of 84.

With bookmakers paying 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4 the 14s available about her looks cracking each-way value.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Sea Of Galilee (14/1 Hills, Victor Chandler – BOG)

Barney the bet at 9/1

Barney McGrew is potentially thrown-in at his best in the 2.00 at Doncaster and looks solid each-way value at 9/1 after an eye-catching run last time out.

Michael Dods’ gelding is now 14lb below his last winning mark and has his optimum conditions today.

He landed a Group 3 contest last season off a mark of 100 and started his campaign off this time round with a fine third to Prohibit in Meydan.

That effort looks even better following Prohibit’s success in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes and Barney McGrew followed up that effort with a solid fourth to the useful War Artist.

The eight-year-old subsequently failed to build on those efforts and it’s fair to say that he had been way out of form until his run at York two weeks ago.

Held up well off the pace that day he showed all his old spark to finish with a rattle and be beaten just 3/4 of a length into third behind Living It Large.

That run suggested that he was ready to strike again and there is little doubt that he is handicapped to do so.

In a race which should be run to suit he makes plenty of appeal at the 9s on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Barney McGrew (9/1 generally available – BOG)
