Eager To Bow is back down below his last winning mark and makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the 2.30 at Lingfield today having shaped well in his last two starts.
Patrick Chammings’ gelding won four times in 2012, including over course and distance, with the last of those successes coming in a 7f contest at Kempton where stayed on strongly from off the pace to get up and beat Rulesnregulations by 1/2 a length off a mark of 71.
He was then off the track for 201 days before reappearing in June off 73, and after needing his initial outing has run well in five subsequent starts.
The seven-year-old has particularly caught the eye in his lst two runs over 7f at Kempton, where although he has failed to hit the frame he has shaepd far better than the bare result indicates.
In the first of those he stayed on from well off the pace to finish a never nearer 2 1/4 length fifth of 13 to Hierarch off a mark of 70, and he then backed that up with a similar effort off the saem rating last time out when staying on to finish 8th of 14 to Emkanaat.
He was not unduly knocked about on either occasion, leaving the impression that he had running left in him.
The handicapper has now dropped him a further 1lb to a mark of 69, and that means that he is now 2lb lower than when last successful and weighted to go in again.
Judge on those runs it won’t be long before he is back in the winners’ enclosure and he looks sure to go well in this in the hands of Liam Keniry.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Eager To Bow (9/1 BetVictor, Coral, Hills, Stan James – BOG)
