Edgware Road is back down belown his last winning mark and makes plenty of appeal at 12/1 in the 4.45 at Wolverhampton today.
Andy Turnell’s gelding was a dual winner last season, landing back-to-back amateur riders’contests at Nottingham and Lingfield.
In the last of those successes the seven-year-old easily beat Olivers Mount by 3 1/2 lengths off a mark of 55, and that resulted in a 6lb rise to 61.
Edgeware Road ran well off it two starts later when finishing a 2 length fourth in a class 5 contest at Goodwood, but since then has failed to trouble the judge in four subsequent outings.
However that has resulted in the handicapper cutting him plenty of slack and he now gets into this class 6 contest off just 52.
That is 3lb lower thanh when last successful, and gives Edgware Road major claims at the weights on the pick of his form.
The booking of Addam Kirby, who has partnered him four times in the past and finished runner-up on each occasion, is also a plus and suggests that connections – who like to land a touch – mean business.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Edgware Road (12/1 Sky Bet – BOG)
