Edgeworth and Catlin a potent combination

Edgeworth looked to be coming back to form when an arguably unlucky runner-up last time out and makes plenty of appeal at 4/1 to go one better in the 4.15 at Wolverhampton.

The gelding had the blinds removed late by young Josh Baudains in a handicap at Lingfield and lost loads of ground at the start as a result.

However he travelled strongly into the race two from home and threw down a determined challenge to the eventual winner Casual Mover before being unable to find any extra close home and being beaten 1 1/2 lengths.

I think that he would have won had his rider not messed up when the gates opened, and despite being 2lb higher in the weights today he remains well treated on his old form and now has the services of Chris Catlin in the saddle.

The six-year-old won four times last year, and Catlin was on-board on each occasion.

He clearly gets on very well with him, and their last win together came in a Lingfield claimer when Edgworth was officially rated 73.

That makes him look nicely in at the weights, and with Catlin back in the plate for the first time in 12 starts and blinkers now back on it’s clear that connections mean business.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Edgeworth (4/1 bet365, Betfred, Boylesports)
