After Eight Sivola a tasty punt at 6/1

After Eight Sivola shaped with plenty of promise on handicap debut and looks cracking value at 6/1 in the 4.40 at Wincanton today now dropped in class.

Nick Williams’ gelding is a lightly-raced an unexposed sort who stepped up on four quiet runs last season to finish fourth of 7 to Bertimont in a class 2 contest at Chepstow 15 days ago.

It was the race in which the winner was allowed a 20 length lead and was never going to get beaten as all the other jockeys sat back and let him dominate, but After Eight Sivola showed enough to suggest he was ahead of his current mark of 114.

The four-year-old raced from 4lb out of the weights, but made progress three from home and was disputing second when clouting the second last.

He could then find now extra on the run-in after the last but finsihed close up behind come rivals rated much higher.

The selection finished  5 3/4 length’s behind the runner-up Dawalan who is rated 130, and just 3/4 behind the third home Manhattan Swing who is also rated 130.

That is strong form and makes his current makr look very exploitable now dropped markedly into class 4 company.

Afdter Eight Sivola, who is a half-brother to high class staying hurdler Reve De Sivola, also remains open to bags of improvement and with Richard Johnson in the saddle this looks a nice opportunity for him to open his account.
