El Dececy the choice at Chepstow

El Dececy is on a potentially lenient mark now switched back to the turf in the 5.45 at Chepstow and makes plenty of appeal at 7/1.

The gelding scored twice last season, landing a seller on the fibresand at Southwell off a rating of 78 before landing a touch off 52 when making all to win a 6f contest at Bath in October off 52.

Since then the eight-year-old has run just once on the turf, but has run well on several occasions without getting his head in front on the all-weather.

He now gets into this contest off a 13lb lower turf mark of 57, and that looks exploitable judged on his last win.

He is also now in the care of the shrewd John Butler, and gets the hood applied on his first start for the Newmarket handler.

If the headgear does the trick and sharpens him up then he could be very difficult to peg back if given an easy time up front, and it’s interesting that he now returns to a venue where he won on his only previous visit.

To me he is a plot waiting to happen, and with conditions ideal it would be no surprise to see him bounce back and land a punt.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win El Dececy (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
