Elusivity to lead the Charge home

Elusivity should get the race run so suit on today’s Coral Charge at Sandown (2.05) and looks the one to be on at 8/1.

Brian Meehan’s gelding progressed nicely last season, showing a good turn of foot to land a handicap at Newmarket in soft conditions off a mark of 85 before chasing home Sirius Prospect at Ascot off 4lb higher and then chasing home Bohemian Melody off 92 at Newmarket.

However he has taken his form to an even higher level this season, finishing a 3/4 length third of 16 to Mayson in a group 3 contest at headquarters in May before running with much credit to finish 6th of 12 to Bated Breath in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock on his penultimate start.

The son Elusive City was then far from disgraced last time out when finishing 11th of 28 (beaten just over 3 lengths) to Dandy Boy in the Wokingham off a mark of 107, and he looks as if he could have more to offer.

The four-year-old, who has a high cruising speed and good turn of foot, is also at his best when coming off a strong pace and he looks sure to get that in this with plenty of confirmed front runners drawn low..

He should be able to get a nice tow into the race from gate 1, and certainly has the right man onboard in the shape of the in-form William Buick to deliver him late if the gaps appear.

It’s also interesting that connections are fitting him with the blinkers for the first time, and providing he gets luck in running everything looks in place for him to run a huge race.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Elusivity (8/1 bet365 – BOG, Coral,  1/4 odds 1,2,3)
