Fakenham Fancies

Brion the bet at 10/1

Otage De Brion shaped with bags of promise last time out and looks overpriced at 10/1 in the 2.00 at Fakenham.

The gelding nine-year-old has never been the easiest to train but showed that he still retains plenty of ability when staying on to be third to Quicyo at Doncaster last month.

He was not knocked about at all that day and the winner has since gone on to land a very competitive handicap off a mark of 132 to make the form look rock solid in the context of this race.

Robert Waley-Cohen’s charge has actually been dropped a pound by the handicapper for that effort to a mark of just 116 and that means that he is now a massive 16 lower than his last success at Bangor-on-Dee back in May 2010.

Considering that he won with plenty to spare that day and went on to run a fair race when fourth to Robinson Collonges off a mark of 142 he looks incredibly well treated on a track which should suit.

I certainly don’t think he should be available to back at double figure odds, and at 10/1 with Ladbrokes he looks cracking each-way value.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Otage De Brion (10/1 Ladbrokes – BOG)

Dot looks Delightful at 8s

Dot’s Delight has not won for a long time, but has plummeted in the weights as a result and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the 2.30 at Fakenham after shaping is if ready to strike last time out.

Mark Rimell’s mare ran far better than her 6 3/4 length third to Accordingtoeileen suggests at Leicester last month, as she made a really bad mistake when travelling up with the leaders four from home.

That blunder seemed to knock her for six, but she kept on well in the circumstances and only weakened late on.

While the form is nothing to write home about, it did show that she was coming back to her best and she is now a whopping 21lb below her last winning mark.

That gives her a terrific chance from a handicapping point of view in what looks a weak race, and there is little doubt that she is weighted to play a major role under conditions which suit.

With Chris Timmons, who gets on well with her, taking another 7lb off her back she looks sure to take all the beating from the foot of the weights and has a great chance of registering an overdue success.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dot’s Delight (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
