Fantacise and Fallon too big at 20s

The booking of Kieren Fallon to partner Fantacise in the 2.40 at Newmarket really catches the eye and make’s Richard Fahey’s filly look well worth an interest at 20/1.

The filly came good at the fourth time of asking as a juvenile when easily landing a 6f contest at Pontefract in soft ground and then ran a cracker next time up in the Group 2 Cherry Hinton at Newmarket when fifth of 10 to Sendmylovetorose.

She was staying on when hampered inside the last, and although she could then make no further impression on the leaders she was far from disgraced in being beaten 5 lengths.

The daughter of Pivotal was rared 92 after that effort and then failed to cut any ice in the Group 3 Sweet Solera and the valuable Tattersalls Millions Fillies Trophy at headquarters on her final two starts of 2012.

It’s fair to say that she has also proved disappointing in three starts this season, however she didn’t run too badly on her penultimate outing at Newmarket when 7th of 13 to Zanetto in a valuable class 2 sales race.

She now gets into this class 4 handicap off a mark of just 73, and gets the visor fitted for the first time.

That could well make a huge difference, and what is interesting is that Fallon now takes over in the saddle as has ridden her just once before – and that came when she ran so well in the Cherry Hinton.

It has to be a positive booking in my eyes as since 2000, he has had just 31 rides for the stable – winning on 7 occasions and being placed on 4 for a strike rate of just over 22.5%.

If he can get her to put her best foot forward in this she could be potentially well-treated off a mark of 73, and at the odds on offer looks a decent each-way punt.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Fantacise (20/1 bet365, Betfred BOG)
