Fast worth a Shot at 22/1 in Scottish Stewards’ Cup

Fast Shot has been given a chance by the handicapper and with underfoot conditions to suit looks worth an each-way wager at 22/1 in the Scottish Stewards’ Cup at Hamilton this evening (7.40).

Tim Easterby’s gelding landed back-to-back handicaps last spring, with the last of those successes coming at Ripon off a mark of 93.

He went on to finish a cracking fifth of 27 to Louis The Pious in the Ayr Gold Cup off 96, and also ran very well on seasonal reappearance at Newcastle when third of 16 to Arctic Feeling off 94.

The eight-year-old has failed to trouble the judge in four subsequent outings, but was unsuited by the step up to 7f at Haydock last time out and has since been dropped a further 3lb.

He now races off just 88, 5lb lower than when last successful, and that gives him major claims at the weights on the pick of his form.

The drop back to 6f is also sure to suit, and the cut in the ground is a big plus.

Connections are also now fitting Fast Shot with the cheekpieces for the first time, and if they have the desired effect he looks overpriced if bouncing back to anything like his best from what is a dangerous mark.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Fast Shot (22/1 bet365, BetVictor, Sky Bet – BOG)
