9/2 Rainbow ready to shine

Finian’s Rainbow is the class act in the 2.40 at Sandown today and looks good value at 9/2 to land the spoils.

Nicky Henderson’s gelding won the Queen Mother Champion Chase last season by 1 1/4 lengtyhs from Sizing Europe and followed up with an easy 7 length victory over Wishful Thinking in the 2m 4f Melling Chase at Aintree.

He hasn’t lived up to expectations in just three starts this season, but he was totally unsuited by teasting conditions in the first two of those and shaped far better last time out at Aintree when fourth of 6 to Sprinter Sacre.

Althoigh eventually beaten 28 loengths that dya he raced with far more zest until making a terrible blunder at the ninth and then tried to serve it up to the winner until fading badly in the home straight.

It was an effort which suggested all was not lost with him, and now that he has the good ground that he relishes he should be really competitive in this.

If he can run anywhere near the level he showed last season then he would be a good thing in this Grade 2 contest, and in a race which should be run to suit I think he is overpriced at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Finian’s Rainbow (9/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
