Fire Tree hot stuff at 9/1

© 2012 Daily Sport Limited

Having dropped in the weights, Fire Tree looks worth a punt at 9/1 in the 4.00 at Nottingham today now pitched back into class 5 company.

The Charlie Fellowes’ trained five-year-old scored twice last season, easily landing a class 5 contest at Wetherby by three lengths off 70 before going on to follow-up in a class 4 at Ascot of 77. Both those races were over 1m.

He got up to 81 after the latter and has largely struggled since and failed to make the frame in eight outings.
However, they have been in class 2, 3 and 4 compamny and his last three runss have been over 1m 4f, 1m 3f and a sbharp extended 7f – trips that are far from ideal.

Fire Tree is ideally suited by the 1m trip of this – over which he has won twice and been placed twice from eight starts – and now drops back into class 5 company in which he has won and been placed once in three outings.

He is also now anle to race off a reduced rating of 67 – 10lbs lower than when last successful.

It gives him major claims at the wights for a yard that has a 25 per cent strike rate with its runners at the venue on the past 12 months (three wins, two places from 12 runners)

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Fire Tree (9/1 bet365, BetVictor, Lasbrokes, Sky Bet – BOG)
