Forge is on an upward curve and is strongly fancied at 5/1 to land the City Of York Stakes at York today (3.05).
Sir Michael Stoute’s colt ran out the easy winner of a maiden at Doncaster back In April and after finishing third in a Listed race at Sandown ran a cracker when a 2 1/2 length third to Ribchester in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The winner has since gone on to finish an unlucky fast finishing third to The Gurkha in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood before beating a top class field the Group 1 Jacques Le Marois at Deauville.
That gives the form a rock solid look iand Forge has since run very well to finish second in a Group 3 at Goodwood when beaten just 1/2 a length by the fast improving Thikriyaat.
The three-year-old looks the type who is improving with each race and should have even more to offer and With Pat Smullen in the saddle looks decent value to gain a deserved big race success.
