Last night saw Commonwealth Super-Bantamweight champ Belfast’s Carl “The Jackal” Frampton take his professional career to 12-0, 8 KO’s when he stopped Bellshill’s Kris Hughes now 15-2, 1 KO at packed York Hall in London’s Eastend in 6 rounds.
Frampton dominated the fight from the opener and in a text book performance with Hughes bleeding from the mouth and nose at the end of the 5th and Frampton nailed in with a terrific right had which absolutely flattened Hughes in the 6th much to the delight of the Frampton fans who’d travelled over from Belfast.
The action packed undercard saw former WBF and WBC Super-Middleweight champ Robin Reid beat Daniel Cadman in 5 rounds having shaken Cadman Reid went on to drop him and the fight was stopped, great 5th round TKO victory for 40yo Reid.
Making his pro debut was Canning Town Cruiserweight Wadi Camacho who beat Moses Matovu on points 40-37 a durable looking guy with lots of supporters in the venue.
Results in breif – English Light-Middleweight Champion Eric Ochieng beat Nick Quigley after the Quigley corner threw i the towel seconds into the 9th of 10 rounds, Quigley was doing OK in the fight but needs to bring more punches up. Middleweight John Ryder stopped Mariusz Biskupski in a second round TKO victory. Lightweight Ryan Taylor beat Robin Deakin in a 3rd round TKO victory which saw Deakin down 3 times and Taylor down once. Light-Heavyweight Andreas Evangelou beat Robert Studzinski on points over 4 rounds 40-36.
Daily Sport says – All in all a great nights boxing and now onwards and upwards for Frampton who looks set to take Northern Irish boxing back to the McGuigan glory days of the 80’s.
