There is no doubting the star of the show on the opening day at Royal Ascot as wonder colt Frankel bids to get the meeting off to a flying start by notching his 11th straight victory in the Queen Anne Stakes which gets the action underway at 2.30.
Sir Henry Cecil’s charge is as short as 1/7 to confirm his status as one of the best horses ever, and BetVictor have taken a bet of £50,000 on him at 1/6.
He has carried all before him so far and made an impressive reappearance as a four-year-old in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last month to register his sixth Group 1 success despite having suffered a set-back in the build up.
He has reportedly come on since, and his handler says there will be no excuses as he bids to thrill the crowds with another breathtaking display of awesome power.
Cecil told At The Races: “He’s in good order and there are no excuses. You always feel nerves with horses like that, he has a great following and you don’t want to let anyone down. I’m very proud of what he’s achieved, we’re lucky to have him and I hope to continue where we left off.”
It really should be a case of how far Frankel’s wins by, and he is likely to do so without having to break sweat.
His old rival Excelebration looks the most likely one to chase him home yet again.
