Frankel is a a definite runner in today’s Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot (4.05) after connections gave the thumbs up to conditions at the track.
There had been a slight concern the ground may be too demanding for the world’s greatest racehorse, who has won 13 races from as many starts.
However connections walked the course this morning, and Teddy Grimthorpe – racing manager to the colt’s owner Khalid Abdullah’s – gave the news all racing fans had been praying for when he said it was all systems go for Sir Henry Cecil’s charge running in the 1m 2f contest.
Grimthorpe said: “We are very happy and there’s nothing to stop us running.”
Frankel is a top priced 30/100 with Stan James to register yet another win in what is likely to be his final racecourse appearance.
French raider Cirrus Des Aigles is a 4/1 chance, with Nathaniel next best in at 12s.
