Franklin can Lord it over his rivals at Ayr

Lord Franklin revels in the mud and at 7/2 looks the one they all have to beat in the 4.10 at Ayr today.

Eric Alston’s gelding ran well over course and distance on soft ground back in July before readily opening his account in similar conditions over a mile at Hamilton off a mark of 46.

He then found 1m 2f and good ground against him when a well beaten 4th of 5 to Luctor Emergo at this track, before bouncing back on soft ground and finishing a highly creditable 3rd of 9 to Celestial Dawn over 6f at Hamilton last time out.

That run showed that he remained in good form and was capable of winning races from his current mark of 55, and today’s 7f trip and heavy ground should be right up his street.

He certainly looks the type who has more to offer, and compared to his rivals in this contest he has a progressive profile at this level.

Connections seem to have found him a very weak race where a line can safely be put through most of the runners who are either badly out of form, ungenuine, racing over the wrong trip or are unable to handle the mud.

In his current form he must take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Lord Franklin (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
