Froch floors 2 in one night

Last night saw Nottingham’s Carl “The Cobra” Froch become a 3 time World Champion when he stopped tough Romanian Lucien Bute in 5 rounds to take the IBF World Light-Heavyweight crown.

Froch who looked at his most impressive last night was an underdog in the betting although DAILY SPORT’s very own boxing odds man Charles Andrews came up trumps for you all be tipping the Englishman.

Then outside the ring Froch caused another upset by KO-ing bookies Ladbrokes who had Froch 8/1 for a KO victory and were also refunding all losing bets should the Brit KO the Romanian. One Notting punter had £20,000 on Froch to win outright at 6/4.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said ‘Punters never lost the faith in Froch. Despite our best efforts to duck him we laid some heavyweight bets and he’s left us out for the count.”

He added: ‘Despite the clause the consensus now is that Bute may think twice about a rematch. Kessler is the early favourite but we can’t rule out an all-British bout.’

Froch is now looking to avenge his only 2 defeats to Andre Ward and Mikkle Kessler both of which would be great wars and big money paydays.

Daily Sport says – Thanks Carl for putting British boxing back on the woprld stage for your efforts in the ring.
