Gaynor and Hughes shine on Magna card

Friday night at Rotherham’s Magna Centre Coldwell Boxing staged another well attended show with some decent local rising talent. Rotherham welterweight Chad Gaynor and Doncaster lightweight Maxi Hughes were vying it out for the most support on the night with their respective fans creating a great atmosphere in the Magna.

Chad Gaynor was in a 6 rounder with Manchester’s William Warburton who went the distance with Gaynor despite having a busted nose in the first and was covered with blood by the end of the fight, making Gaynor work throughout and coast to a 60-54 victory on home soil.

Maxi Hughes who seems to be an exciting prospect form Dave Coldwell’s camp took on Scottish based Latvian Andrejs Podusovs over 6 rounds and Hughes put in the classier work to take the 6 rounder 60-54.

Another local fighter gaining and good following is former Prizefighter contestant and light-middleweight Nav Mansouri who took on Adam Jones in a 6 round. Mansouri put on a good performance winning the 6 rounder 60-54.

Jamie Hughes coasted to victory in his light-heavyweight contest against fellow Doncaster resident James Tucker beating him 40-46.

The only stoppage of the night came in the first fight of the evening with Sheffield light-middle Rod Smith stopping Rainham’s Costas Osben in 2 rounds with Osben retiring on his stool at the end of the round after being outclassed over the previous 6 minutes.

All in all another cracking nights boxing in Rotherham and DAILY SPORT were glad to be there to support the bill again and join the after party at Rotherham’s Su Casa bar.

The entire bill will be available to watch online and on iPhone and iPad shortly on the newly launched Coldwell TV.
