Geordie Des Champs up for the Summer Cup

Geordie Des Champs has plenty going for him in the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter today (4.20) and makes plenty of appeal at 9/1.

Rebecca Curtis’ seven-year-old was a useful hurdler who has taken well to chasing, winning two of his four starts.

After scoring easily by 3 1/2 lengths at Taunton he was given a break befire following up in good style over 3m 1f at Hereford back in March.

Geordie De Chanps found plenty to beat Rolling Dylan with more in hand than the 1 1/2 length winning margin suggests.

He was the far from disgraced last time out when third of 11 to Silverhow at Sandown when unsuited by the drop back to 2m 4f.

The step up to 3m 2f in this looks sure to suit and an opening handicap chase mark of 139 looks workable given his unexposed profile over the larger obstacles and that he ran a cracker off 135 when third of 22 to Rather Be in a hot handicap hurdle at the Aintree Grand National meeting in 2017.

It’s also intresting that is last two wins have come after breaks of 70 and 66 days as he comes into this following 64 days on the sidelines.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Geordie Des Champs (9/1 BetVictor, Boylesports, Coral, Ladbrokes, William Hill – BOG)
