Deepsand has conditions in his favour in the 4.00 at Nottingham today and looks cracking each-way value at 10/1.
Tim Easterby’s gelding has performed consistently well this season, and still looks well-treated off his current mark of 76.
He finished a 1/2 length runner-up to Nanton off it in an extended 1m 6f handicap at Doncaster back in July, leading at the furlong marker and looking all over the winner until Jim Goldie’s grand old campaigner came with a rattle to land the spoils.
To his credit, Deepsand stuck to the task well and he backed up that effort with a decent fourth to Almagest over 2m at Ripon when staying on to be beaten 5 lengths without ever really getting competitive.
The five-year-old then came fourth at Haydock before deservedly getting his head in front in a 2m contest at Musselburgh when only having to be driven out to beat Underwritten by 1/2 a length off 74.
Deepsand backed that up with a solid sixth of 16 to Kashmiri Sunset last time out over 2m 2f at York, chasing the winner from the two marker until weakening inside the last to be beaten 5 3/4 lengths off today’s mark.
That showed that he ramained in good heart, and the drop back in trip to 1m 6f will hold no fears.
The ground is also in his favour, and with the stable in good form he looks overpriced in a market domimated by Nabatean whose best form has all come on quicker gound.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Deepsand (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
