Today marked the first ever visit to the UK by Kazakh KO artist Gennady Golovkin ahead of his defence of his WBC super world middleweight title on February 21 in Monte Carlo against Brit Martin Murray.
As if a legend like GGG hitting our shores wasn’t enough it has also been announced that the fight will be televised live here in the UK on FREE 2 AIR TV by Channel 5 after a deal between the promoters and Hennessy Sports who are expecting a 4million audience for the fight.
Murray’s business manager Andrew Mikhail confimred that Murray is in the best shape of his career and is relising the chance of getting his hands on a world title.
Golovkin told DAILY SPORT Boxing”I’ve great respect for Martin Murray and this will be a great fight as we are both class boxers.”
While Murray said”I’m looking forward to the fight and am fully focused doing a 12 week training camp slit between here and South Aftica,
“I have ever confidence in winning this bout and notice from previous opponents of Glovkin that they were scared and had already lost the fight before the first bell.”
