Global Leader makes his eagerly awaited handicap debut in the 6.30 at Wolverhampton this evening and is of major interest at 7/2 to make it a winning one.

Paul D’Arcy’s colt was sent off big prices when well beaten in three maiden runs last November, but hinted that he had ability on the last of those when fifth of 9 to Wandsworth over 7f at Kempton.

Held-up in touch that day, he travelled well for much of the contest until being ridden and fading a furlong from home and allowded to come home in his own time without being unduly knocked about.

The winner went on to follow-up of a mark of 73, and the fourth home Aomen Rock – who finished 3 1/4 lengths in front of Global Leader – finished runner-up in a maiden on his next start off an official rating of 67.

That makes the selection look potentially well-treated in this class 7 contest off an opening mark of just 50, and the fact that he had three quick runs in the space of 19 days to get his mark suggests that connections have clearly brought him along with handicaps in mind.

The step back up to 1m 1f today should also suit, and with the in-form Adam Kirby in the saddle everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Global Leader (7/2 Betfred, BetVictor, Coral, Hills – BOG)
