David Lanigan has a terrific strike rate at Kempton, and his Warrior Of Light is of major interest at 2/1 to further enhance it in the 3.40 there today.
The Newmarket handler has a strike rate of 28.57% with his runners at the venue in the past 12 months (10 winners and 4 placed from 35 runners) and in Warrior Of Light has a lightly raced type who looks sure to win more races this season.
The son of High Chaparral caught the eye on his debut over a mile at this track when keeping on to finish a not knocked about sixth of 11 to Marzocco, and thne duly improved for the experience when easily landing a 12-runner mile maiden here.
Although the eventual winning margin was only a length, that does not tell the whole story as he scored with tons in hand.
After racing close-up, Warrior Light was ridden to lead at the furlong marker and then quickened clear to put the race to bed and win readily.
It was an effort which suggested he needing keeping onside and would be a useful tool to go to war with in handicaps this season, and may even prove better than that grade in due course.
The three-year-old now makes his debut in that sphere off an opening mark of 84 and I will be surprised if he doesn’t prove much better than that.
The step up in trip to 1m 3f also looks sure to suit, and with Ted Durcan in the saddle he rates the best bet on the card.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 5pts win Warrior Light (2/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
