Goodwood (3.50, Saturday): 25/1 Face The Problem a Stewards’ Cup cracker

© 2012 Daily Sport Limited

Face The Problem has slipped to an attractive mark and looks cracking each-way value at 25/1 having shaped as if coming back to his best in recent starts.

Jamie Osborne’s charge was a very progressive sort last season and put in a smartt performance when last winning a competitive 16-runner handicap at Doncaster where he only had to be ridden out to comfortably beat Long Awaited by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 102.

He then finished a fair fifth of 9 to Doc Hay at Ascot off 108 on his final start of what had been a long season, and shaped really well on his first start of this campaign off the same mark when stayimg on to finish a 2 length fourt of 7 to Ballista at Chester.

The five-year-old was the not at his best in his next two starts but then caught the eye when staying on well to finish a never nearer 7th of 17 to Kingsgate Choice in the William Hill Scottish Sprint at Musselburgh off 103.

Things then didn’t go right for him on his next start at Ascot, but his latest start at the track when sixth of 18 to Barnet Fair was full of promise and suggested his time may well be near.

He gets into this off a rating of 101 – 1lb lower than his last success – and the big field and strong gallop should really play to his strengths.

The son of Johannesberg certainly has the right profile to win this and to me he looks to have been primed for this by his shrewd handler.

With James Doyle in the saddle and the trip and going fine a huge runs looks on the cards.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Face The Problem (25/1 Hills – BOG)
