Grandouet looks just Champion at 100/30

I have long believed that Grandouet has the potential to go right to the top of the hurdling tree, and Nicky Henderson’s charge looks terrific value at 100/30 to land the 3.05pm at Cheltenham today and put hinmself firmly on course for a crack at the Champion Hurdle

The gelding developed into a top juvenile hurdler last term, finishing a fine third in the Triumph Hurdle before going on to easily land a Grade 1 at the Punchestown festival in May.

He looked poised to make a winning reappearance when coming to grief at the second last in the Elite Hudle at Wincanton but easily made amends when running out the facile winner of the betfair Hurtdle at Haydock last time up.

The four-year-old looks to have strengthend up into the fnisihed artcile this season, and the guaranteed strong pace that Overturn will set will suit him down to the ground.

An end to end gallop enables him to settle and be switched off, and he has a telling change of gears at the business end of affairs which mark him out as something special.

I think he will have too many guns for today’s rivals, and as well as backing him to win today I am going to avail myself of some of the 14/1 on offer for the Champion Hurdle itself.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Grandouet (100/30 bet364, Betfred, Paddy Power – BOG)

Champion Hurdle Ante Post – 2pts each-way Grandouet (14/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
