Green Howard is unbeaten in two runs at Catterick and rates a solid bet at 11/2 in the 2.50 there today.
Robin Bastiman’s gelding has won six of his 24 starts, with the last of those successes cominng on good-to-soft ground in a 10-runner handciap over 7f at Newcastle last August where he stayed on well to beat Victoire De Lyphar by 1 1/4 lengths off a mark of 78.
He went on to finish an excellent head runner-up to Circuitous in the 27-runner Ayr Bronze cup over 6f off 81, and gets into this contest off the same rating having shaped as if coming into form last time out.
The six-year-old stayed on from the rear of the field to finish a never nearer 2 3/4 length fifth of 10 to Angus Og over 6f at Ripon 15 days ago, his second start this season.
He should now be spot on to do himself justice, and the step back up to 7f looks sure to suit.
Green Howard has won five times at thr trip, including once over course and distance, and clearly runs this track extremely well.
With underfoot conditions to suit, and Neil Farley in the saddle taking another 3lb off his back, everything looks in place for a huge run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Green Howard (11/2 Betfred, BetVictor, Stan James – BOG)
