Greyhound Betting Preview: Bubbly value at 8s for Olympic gold

The Coral Greyhound Olympic Final takes centre stage on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight (9.24pm, Live on Sky 212) and Bubbly Phoenix looks the value bet at 8/1 to land the spoils.

Paul Young’s dog has had an injury plagued year, but there has been lots to like about his last two efforts and he looks to have a potentially good draw in Trap 4.

He was careful around the bends in the first round when beaten 2 3/4 lengths by kennelmate Jaytee Lightning but duly stepped up on that effort 7 days ago when running them far more smoothly to get a length closer to that rival.

Judged on that effort the son of College Cuaseway looks to be improving with every run and coming to peak at exactly the right time.

He certainly seems to have a good pitch to exploit in the black jacket with another of his kennelmates Jaytee Jules in Trap 1 tending to go middle on the run-up  and Guinness Spark (T2) and Jaytee Lightning in Trap 3 both favoruing the rails.

There is a distinct possibility of trouble on the inside, and if Bubbly can break in his best fashion he could take advatange and lead at the first.

If he does then he is going to be very hard to peg back, and at the odds on offer looks overpriced.

In the stayers Open at 9.40pm, Trap 6 Droopy’s Ed Moses is strongly fancied at 5/2 to gain compensation for being knocked out of the Olympic semis.

Dean Childs’ dog is a top notch performer as ahe showed in the Derby heats when beaten just 1 1/4 lengths into third behind the brilliant Ballymac Eske.

He is a real powerhouse of a dog who is far better suited by this galloping track and ran a most encuraging race in the first round of the Olumpic when getting a troubled passage before staying on really well to finish a 3 3/4 length runner-up to Glanmire Jet.

Prior to that effort he had raised a few eyebrow when beating the top notch Musical Gaga in a two dog trial at Wimbledon, and he lost all chance in last week’s semis of the Olympic when very slowly away.

This 695 test should be right up his street, and he has the perfect pitch in the strips to get a handy position and make his class tell at the business end of affair.

I had him priced up at around the 7/4 mark for this, so the 5/2 available looks huge and should be snapped up.
