Guilded Spirit and Hughes hot stuff at Chepstow

Guilded Spirit runs off a career-low mark in the 5.20 at Chepstow today and makes plenty of appeal at 6/1 now partnered by Richard Hughes for the first time.

Stuart Kittow’s charge hasn’t been at his best so far in five runs this season, but having been rated as high as 72 is now running off just 60.

That is 5lb lower than when scoring at Ffos Las last August where he stayed on strongly to beat Greyemkay by 2 1/4 lengtsh after being ridden clear from the two marker.

It gives him a massive chance from a handicapping perspective, and the booking of Hughes suggests connections mean business.

The champion jockey has teamed up just three times with the stable in the past 12 months, winning one one occasion and finshing in the frame on the other two.

He looks the ideal partner to get the best of of Guilded Spirit, and if he can persuade the four-year-old to out his best foot forward than he is weighted to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Guilded Spirit (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
