Ruth Carr’s Hab Reeh is on a potentially lenient mark now returned to the turf in the 3.50 at Thirsk today and looks worth a wager at 8/1.

The gelding was thriving at the beginning of the year when winning three times over 5 and 6f at Wolverhampton, with his last success coming over the latter trip off a mark of 58.

He went on to finish an excellent third of 12 to Sunrise Dance at the same venue off a mark of 64 and now gets into this off just 52 having shaped nicely last time out over 7f at Musselburgh.

The five-year-old was held up in mid-division that day before being switched outside and coming with a run to take up the running at the furlong marker before being headed inside the last an weakening late on to finish a 4 3/4 length third of 9 to Jebel Tara.

It was an effort which suggested he would be seen to far better effect when dropped back to sprint distances, and he now runs over a much more suitable 6f having been dropped 1lb since that effort.

That gives him a huge shout at the weights, and he should now be able to adopt the more attacking tactics that he needs to be seen at his best.

The ground and trip are certainly in his favour (last win on turf came over 6f on good-to-firm ground), and with Amy Ryan in the saddle he looks weighted to take the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Hab Reeh (8/1 BetVictor – BOG)
