Richard Hannon’s Hairy Rocket looks cracking each-way value at 16/1 in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot today (5.00).
The Marlborough handler saddles two in the contest, and stable jockey Richard Hughes has decided to partner Jubilee Diamond.
However I think he may have made the wrong decision, and with Ryan Moore on top Hairy Rocket is definitely the one I want to be with.
The daughter of Pivotal made an impressive winning debut when slamming Miss Diva by 5 lengths at Windsor, and the runner-up went on to comfortably beat Hoyam next time up who has been nibbled at for this.
The selection has nothing to fear from Michael bell’s filly on the book, and although she was beaten by Graphic Quest last time up at Windsor I expect her to turn the form around with that rival.
Richard Hughes got her involved in a suicidal speed battle that day in the three-runner affair, and it was to her credit that she only weakened close home to be beaten 1 3/4 lengths.
I think she was the best horse in that contest given the way things panned out, and there is no way in my eyes that she should be available to back at double the odds of the winner.
With bet365 offering enhanced place terms of 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4, she looks a great each-way play.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Hairy Rocket (16/1 bet365 – 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4 and BOG)
