It was a night for the heavyweights last night with Wladimir Klitschko taking on Mariusz Wach in Hamburg and Robert Helenius in his first fight since Dereck Chisora where he faces Sherman Williams in Helsinki both Klitschko and Helenius won their respective bouts on points dominating the bouts.
Klitschko retained his IBF, IBO, WBO and WBA super world heavyweight titles 120-107, 120-107 and 119-109 making it 13 straight defences on the spin.
Helenius who’d been out 11 months with a shoulder injury beat Sherman Williams 99-91, 99-93 and 98-93 “I´m back,” Helenius said. “This was a good comeback win for me. Williams was a dangerous opponent, he came here to fight. But I think I fought a good fight. I´m happy with my performance.”
So what does 2013 hold for these 2 heavyweight with Helenius looking now to get his career back on track and move on up the division there will be numerous opportunities to prove himself and Klitschko may well face WBO cruiserweight champ Marco Huck who had a close call in his last outing at heavyweight against Alexander Povetkin earlier in the year or maybe Klitchko will finally face long time prospective opponent Povetkin?
