Hellbender handicapped to strike

Hellbender has slipped to a career-low all-weather mark and looks worth a wager at 8/1 to take advantage in the 3.10 at Lingfield today.

Shaun Harris’ gelding is a dual winner over course and distance, with the last of those successes coming 13 montghs ago in a claimer off an official rating of 70.

The nine-year-old went on to be placed on several occasions last year, including when third at Southwell off 68, and is now able to race off just 57.

That gives Hellbender major claims from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form, and although he has yet to trouble the judge in four starts this dseason he hasn’t run too badly on the last two occasions off marks of 62 and 59.

The booking of Robert Winston to do the steering also catrches the eye, and Hellbnder is now on a mark where jhe is simply too well-treated to ignore.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Hellbender (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
