Honest Vic the standout bet at Kempton

The form of the race in which Honest Vic finished second last time out looks strong so at 6/1 he rates the standout bet on today’s card at Kempton (2.40) The Henry Daly trained six-year-old was arguably unlucky not to be awarded the race when carried left after the last and being beaten just a head by Brio Conti in a competitive 10-runner class 2 handicap at Ascot off 122 when running from 1lb out of the weights. Brio Conti has since run a blinder to finish fourth in Coral Cup at this week’s Cheltenham Festival and the third home Ballyandy also ran a cracker when third in that race. The fourth home Malaya has also gone on to land the valuable Grade 3 Imperial Cup at Sandown, so that gives the form a rock solid look in what looks a weaker class 2. It also makes a 4lb rise in the weights for Honest Vic look very fair and a revised rating of 126 should not be beyond him. Richard Patrick also takes off a handy 3lb with his claim, so Honest Vic looks to have plenty going for him in this

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Honest Vic (6/1 general – use BOG firms)
