Hope Cove rates a solid bet at 9/2 in the 3.05 at Newmarket today now eased in grade and stepped back up in trip.

Ed Walker’s charge was a dual winer as a juvenile, landing a 7f contest at Redcar and rounding off the campaign with success in a 6f class 4 affair at Wolverhampton off 77.

He got put up 5lb for the latter but ran really well off a revised rating of 82 on seasonal reappearance when fourth to Acclaim in a competitive class 2 affair over 6f at Newmarket when keeping on well close home to be beaten just 2 lengths.

Hope Cove backed that up with a solid 2 length fourth of 10 at the same venue in another class 2 contest off 85, again keeping on at the death.

The three-year-old is now able to race in this lower grade class 4 affair off 2lb lower, and that gives him a huge shout at the weights.

The step back up to 7f also looks a plus, and with George Baker in the saddle he holds outstanding claims.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Hope Cove (9/2 BetVictor, Stan James, Wiliam Hill – BOG)
