Yoan Pablo Hernandez broke his left hand in his victory of Steve Cunningham in Frankfurt on Saturday night. Hernandez dropped Cunningham twice in the 4th which is when the injury occurred.
Following a routine check-up on Monday doctors found a break in his still swollen hand which was operated on.
Hernandez is now hoping to make a swift recovery and be back in the ring defending his title shortly.
