Irish Boxing Star Ray Moylette signs pro deal with Assassin Promotions

Ray Moylette, an Irish amateur boxer with a distinguished pedigree has signed a professional contract with fast growing promotional outfit Assassin Promotions, headed up by Kaz Evans and based in Brighton, United Kingdom.

The first ever Irish amateur to do so, Moylette took gold at both the World Youth Amateur Boxing Championships and European Amateur Boxing Championships. Moylette has shown he has the skill to succeed in the pro ranks, the European win coming through a victory over England’s Tom Stalker, a boxer who has since made it through the professional ranks.

The Mayo born boxer has teamed up with renowned trainer Paschal Collins and will base himself in the Celtic Warrior gym in Dublin. Collins, brother of the notorious Steve Collins, better known for twice defeating Chris Eubank, has high hopes for the young boxer as he adds Moylette to a stable of fighters including that of Spike O’Sullivan and Steve Ormond. The esteemed trainer learned his trade from amongst others Freddie Roach, trainer of Manny Pacquiao.

The announcement closely follows the news that Assassin has signed Cork based Cuban Alexei Collado and ahead of the recently announced Assassin show on March 4th at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, where exciting featherweight Ben Jones will fight for the WBC International Featherweight title. Moylette will be making his debut on the card, with his opponent yet to be announced.

Moylette told DAILY SPORT Boxing: “This is a big moment in my career. I’ve proven I can do it at amateur level but in the pro ranks I will need to learn the game. I will have a strict training regime and have teamed up with one of the best trainers in the game. I’m really looking forward to working with Assassin and the team and excited to be making my debut on their London show on March 4th, which looks like a great card already.

Kaz Evans, Founder of Assassin Promotions said: “Ray is a huge talent and has made a lot of noise in the amateur scene. We believe we can give him the platform he needs as he embarks on what should be a very exciting and successful professional career.”
