Irish Saint weighted to shine in Betbright

Irish Saint has slipped to a handy mark and looks the answer to the Betrbight Handicap Chase at Kempton today (5.35).

Paul Nicholls’ gelding was a smart novice chaser in 2014/15 when winning three times, including the Pendil Chase on this card.

He also ran well to finish fourth to the brilliant Vautour in the Grade 1 JLT Chjase at the Cheltenham Festival and was far from disgarecd when third to stable companion Saphir Du Rheu in a Grade 1 at Aintree.

Irish Saint was then on the sidelines for 582 days but has shown that he retaisn plenty of ability in three runs this season.

They include a good sixth to Regal Encore in a competitive 14-runner affair at Ascot off a mark of 150 where he finished just 1/2 a length behind Le Mercurey who chased home Native River in the Denman Chase last time out.

The third home in that race Tenor Nivernais has also come out and bolted up since to giuve the form a soli look.

Irish Sant has since finsihed a good third at Sandown, travelling strongly until pecking two from home and weakneing lare on.

He has since been dropped another 2lb to 146 and that makes him weighted to take all the beating given that he has been rated as high as 153.

Another plus is that he is 3/3 at the venue.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Irish Saint (5/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
