Summerinthecity shaped as if coming back to his best last time out and makes plenty of appeal at 15/2 in the 4.00 at Wolverhampton to take advantage of a lenient looking handicap mark.
Dandy Nicholls’ charge is a useful sort on his day, and caught the eye when staying on well to finish a never nearer fourth of 16 to Prodigality over 6f at Goodwood last month.
He was beaten just 1 1/2 lengths at the line in that class 3 contest, and gets into this class 4 affair off an 4lb lower mark of 81.
That means that he is now 4lb lower than his last success and 7lb lower than when an excellent 1/2 length second of 20 to Farlow in a competitive class 3 contest at Doncaster back in May.
He also has the services of Shirley Teasdale in the saddle who takes another 5lb of his back, and the way he was finishing at Goodwood suggested that he was worth another try over today’s 7f trip.
To me there is little doubt that he is weighted to take all the beating on the pick of his form, and at the odds on offer he looks a solid each-way punt.
