It’s time to get Romantic at York

Romantic Settings has some solid form to her name and looks good each-way value at 10/1 in the 1.50 at York today.

Richard Fahey’s filly showed progressive form as a juvenile, coming good at the third time of asking when scoring over a mile at Haydock where she stayed on strongly to lead on the post and beat Elhaame by a nose.

She then won on her seasonal reappearance over today’s 1m 1f trip on her handicap debut at Musselburgh where she kept on well to beat King Of Danes by 1 1/2 lengths off a mark of 77 and now meets that rival on 2lb better terms.

The daughter of Mount Nelson then had her sights raised to Group 3 company and ran a cracker to finish a staying on second to Liber Nauticus in the Musidora at this track over 1m 2f.

She then wasn’t at her best in her next two starts (finished in front of Butterfly McQueen in first of those at Newbury), but has since bounced back to form and run two solid races.

In the first of those she finsihed a 2 length fourth of 7 to the classy Sharestan in a listed contest at Ayr, and she then ran better than her finishing position suggests when poorly placed in a slow run tactical affair at Chester when staying on late to be third of 8 to Powder Hound.

Judged on the pick of her form she doesn’t look too badly treated off her current mark of 93, and her proven ability to act on ground with cut in it is a major plus.

It’s also interesting that she now drops back to the trip which saw her register her last success, and given that she holds both Butterfly McQueen and King Of Danes on the book I don’t think that she should be available to back at bigger odds than that pair.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Romatic Settings (10/1 bet365, BetVictor – BOG)
