Ivestar handicapped to shine at Wolves

Mick Easterby’s Ivestar is back down to a dangerous mark and is strongly fancied at 9/2 to take advantage in the 8.45 at Wolverhampton tonight now dropped back to the minimum trip.

The gelding was last successful in a selling handicap over 6f at this in January 2013 off 60 and now gets into this contest off just 52.

That should enable him to be really competitive, and he has run really well in four of his last six starts.

They included a 1/2 length second to Dark Lane here over 6f off 55 and an excellent 1/2 length second to New Rich at kempton off 56.

He kept on really well in the latter and the form has a strong look to it in the context of this contest.

The winner has come out and won since of 61, and Torres Del Paine and Pharoh Jake – who finished in fourth and seventh – have also both gone on to taste success.

The selection also ran really well last time out over 6f at Kempton, when racing up with the pace before weakening late on to finish a 2 3/4 length fourth of 11 to Time Medicean.

The way he has been shaping suggests that a drop back to 5f, over which he has won twice, could well be the ket to getting him back in the winners’ enclosure and he gets that in this.

From a good draw in stall 4 and with Graham Gibbons in the saddle he looks sure to take all the beating and rates the standout bet on the card.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Ivestar (9/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
