The well-treated Jay Bee Blue caught the eye last time out and looks to have plenty going for him in the 5.40 at Wolverhampton today.

Sean Curran’s gelding is a dual winner over course and distance on the old polytrack surface, and the last of those successes came off a mark of 77 back in November 2013.

The six-year-old went on to finish an excellent runner-up at this track off 80, and also ran well to be placed on several occasions last year.

He is now able to race off just 70 having shaped with plenty of promise on his recent comeback run after 204 days on the sidelines when sixth of 11 to Varsorvian over 6f at Lingfield.

Jay Bee Blue dwelt at the start and quickly found himself at the rear before keeping on well in the final furlong to be baeten 3 1/4 lengths.

That run should have blown away the cobwebs and put him spot on for this, and the step back up to 7f looks sure to suit.

Another plus is that he has the services of Adam Kirby in the saddle, and everything looks in place for him to land the spoils.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Jay Bee Blue (7/2 generally avalailable – use BOG firms)
