Jennies Jewel a 12/1 Naas gem

Jennies Jewel looks on a fair mark for her first try in a handicap in the 31.15 at Naas today and rates a decent each-way punt at 12/1.

Jarlath Fahey’s mare is a really consistent sort who has not finished out of the first four in six starts since opening her account over hurdles at this track back in January where she stayed on strongly in the mud to score by 2 lengths from Upazo.

She contesed listed and graded races after that success, finishing a fine 4 1/2 length runner-up to the 140-rated Glens Melody at Leopardstown on the first occasion before being far from disgraced when finishing third of 8 to Bright New Dawn (rated 144) in a grade 2 contest at Thurles.

The six-year-old was then no match for the brilliant Annie Power when finishing third in a grade 1 contest at Fairyhouse before posting another solid effort in the same grade when fourth of 7 to Morning Assembly at Punchestown where she finsihed just over 2 lengths behind the third home Ballycasey who is rated 143.

She then looked in need of the run on her seasonal reappearance in a Qualified Riders flat race at Listowel when a not knocked about third of 14 to Caim Hill before putting in a cracking effort last time out at the beginning of this month when chasing home Cailin Annamh at Gowran Park.

She made Jessie Harrington’s charge pull out all the stops that day, going down by just 3/4 of a length afterbeing collared close home.

The winner is a really useful and improving mare who has since gone on to land the four-timer at Punchestown off an official rating of 132, and that makes Jennies Jewel look on a decent mark off 130.

The pick of her form gives her every chance in this line-up, and everything looks in place for a big run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Jennies Jewel (12/1 bet365, Boylesports, Hills – BOG)
